Director of Health Economics, Outcomes Research and Market Access

This individual will design, develop, oversee and/or execute Health Economic, Outcomes Research and Market Access Strategic Plans in support of existing and new laboratory diagnostics in coordination with Business Development, Research and Development, Medical Affairs, Clinical Effectiveness, Product Commercialization, Segment Marketing and Managed Care. This individual will be a subject matter expert (SME) in evaluating, building and translating clinical validity and clinical utility into economic and societal value.   Responsibilities may include but not limited to: For new and existing laboratory diagnostics for which there is not established medical policy, evaluate existing clinical studies for study design/protocol and provide guidance as to the design, validity, and reliability of the study and reported outcomes. Identify gaps in clinical utility data that need to be closed in order to secure coverage and reimbursement for laboratory diagnostics. Work with the Director of Clinical Effectiveness to design and lead clinical utility studies and cost effectiveness analyses. Ensure that appropriate quantitative research and health economic modeling are undertaken to develop an integrated approach for maximizing reimbursement and early/sustained market access. Develop and execute a comprehensive and compelling health economics, outcomes research and clinical utility publication plan as a part of the product publication strategy to appropriately disseminate the value messages and evidence. Author and support the publication of peer-reviewed journal articles. Actively participate on Payer Policy Collaboration Committee and R&D and other committees, to fully understand and continually refine product outcomes and economic positioning; ensure the alignment of health economics, outcomes research and clinical utility and overall payer strategies as well as ensure alignment of tactical plans with commercial and medical strategy Establish strong and sustainable relationships with Regional Managed Care Clients Implement the regional Managed Care strategy as it pertains to the acquisition and/or retention of Managed Care plancontracts and Direct Employer Contracts. Must display superior negotiating skills to ensure contracts are signed, implemented, retained and profitable with consistent price increases. Requirements Requirements: Undergraduate Degree with a minimum of 5 years' relevant industry experience in health economics/outcomes research Strong methodological, quantitative and analytical skills combined with a sound understanding of how to successfully apply health economic research principles to support the commercial enterprise; demonstrated ability to think strategically and make sound health economic and business decisions Strong project management skills with oversight experience in both internal and external projects are necessary. Demonstrated multitasking and time management skills and experience are absolutely essential in this area Demonstrated understanding and experience in diagnostics product development and/or commercialization. Experience in health economics and outcomes research, clinical trial protocol, and a good understanding of study designs that produce clinically and economically relevant value information in both a development and post-launch time period Strong and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability in participating and leading cross-functional teams, excellent skills in leading without authority, and negotiating and managing through influence Executive level communication skills Demonstrated experience in medical/scientific writing. Normally requires a Valid Driver's License along with a clean driving record.
